How Recommendations are Generated

To start, Surface's AI analyzes various sources of data (e.g., the Talent Practices Inventory , HR data, survey data), identifies strengths and opportunities, and proposes recommendations to address those opportunities.

All possible recommendations are weighted based on four criteria - foundationalism (which practices are foundational and set you up to successfully implement other initiatives), efficacy (which practices have a greater body of evidence to support their effectiveness), visibility (which are most visible to employees), and ease (how difficult practices are to implement). Recommendations take a weighted average of these four criteria (with a heavier weight on foundationalism and efficacy) and Surface prioritizes recommendations with the highest overall importance that are best suited to address your opportunity areas.
