Review Insights in Surface
Once onboarding is complete, you’ll gain access to insights, benchmarks, and recommendations, all tailored to your organization.
The “Insights” tab includes key insights about your organization. Informed by the information provided in the Company Context Library, this page has several components:
Hotspots
Hotspots provide an executive summary for your organization, highlighting the things that are going well and your biggest opportunities. Paradigm experts have spent over a decade analyzing data to uncover gaps, understand why those gaps exist, and provide data-driven and research-backed recommendations to address those gaps. Our prompts in Surface harness that expertise to identify gaps in real time, and triangulate several data sources to pin-point the root of the cause. The result is robust insights and tailored solutions.

Click “Explore hotspot” to see details like why this insight matters, how the hotspot was uncovered (e.g., data sources), methodology, and key findings.

Talent and Culture Maturity
We use the Talent Practices Inventory (TPI) to generate a maturity score that helps you understand how your policies and practices compare to peers. Each question in the TPI is weighed based on importance (see more in the Talent Practices Inventory help article!), and the maturity score is calculated by taking the sum of all questions that are answered in the affirmative divided by the sum of all possible points.

Each company gets a maturity score that places them on our maturity model, a scale where your placement is determined by how your maturity score compares to benchmark. You can compare to All Surface customers (the default), your industry, or companies of your size. Maturity model distinctions are as follows: Early (more than ten percentage points below the benchmark), Building (within ten percentage points of the benchmark), Leading (more than ten percentage points above the benchmark), and Innovating (more than 25 percentage points above the benchmark)

Company Maturity by Dimension
Surface not only provides an overall maturity score, that score is broken down by ten dimensions that are critical to creating a high performance culture. Maturity is broken down by two categories (and most questions are tagged with each of these categories): Employee Lifecycle dimensions - Attract, Hire, Develop, and Engage, and Organizational Health Dimensions - Leader and Employee Enablement, Effective Communication, Data-Driven Decision Making, Clear Purpose and Strategy, Growth Mindset, and Inclusive and Fair Practices.

Maturity by Segment
Finally, organizations can choose to assess maturity for different segments of the organization. The Surface admin can indicate that they want a question in the TPI answered by country, region, or department/function. When this option is selected, the Surface admin assigns the correct Segment owner, and that owner is notified via email to answer the questions that have been assigned to them.
