Launching Annual Compliance Assignments in Reach

It’s best practice to create and launch a new assignment each year for your compliance training. Follow the steps below to set up and launch your annual compliance assignments in Reach.

Step 1: Disconnect Groups from the Previous Year’s Assignments

Before creating this year’s assignment, disconnect any learner groups that were attached to last year’s compliance assignments.

To disconnect groups:

  1. Go to Assignments in Reach.
  2. Find last year’s compliance assignment.
  3. Select Assign Groups.
  4. In the Groups section, uncheck the connected groups and Save.

Once the groups are disconnected, learners will no longer have access to the previous year’s assignment.

Why this matters: If groups remain connected to an old assignment, learners may continue to access the previous year’s training. Additionally, if a Dynamic Group is still connected, any new learners added to that group will automatically receive the old assignment.

Step 2: Create a New Assignment

Next, create a new compliance assignment for the current year.

  1. From the Assignments page, select Create Assignment.
  2. Add a Title, Description, and select Compliance as the category, then Save.
    • This will create a draft of your new assignment.
  3. Select Manage Content and choose the courses that should be included in the assignment.
  4. Select Notifications to set the assignment deadline and configure any reminder notifications.
  5. Select Assign Groups and connect the applicable group(s) to the new assignment.
    1. At the bottom of the page, select Yes, everyone will be required to take all of the content from the beginning to ensure that previous years’ progress is not counted toward this year’s compliance assignment.

Step 3: Launch the New Assignment

  1. Select Launch Assignment on the draft.
  2. Review all settings carefully.
  3. Click Launch Assignment to make it available to learners.

Learners will now see the new compliance assignment in their Reach dashboard and can begin training immediately.

Important Note: Compliance Reporting will always include date from previous years.
